Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation. The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here. Incidents and Illustrations THIS 6-YEAR-OLD THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO THE SLAMMER. Randy Castro attends a Pentecostal church where he is a Royal Ranger. He loves to build things with his Lego set and he has a dream of someday being a first-class soccer player. He also attends the Randy was on the school playground enjoying himself when he notice a classmate, Katherine DeLeon, a little girl who regularly played with him. She was kneeling on a bench when another boy ran up to her, whacked her on the rear, laughed and ran off. He did that twice more and it looked like fun to Randy, so he ran over and whacked her twice in the same place, then also ran off laughing. Poor Randy learned that day – the hard way – about young love. He said when the other guy hit her and laughed, she laughed too. But when he hit her, “she told the teacher.” He was ordered to the principal’s office and as he sat waiting for the interview, he said, “I thought they were going to take me to prison,” adding, “I was scared.” As someone who often chatted with my high school principal in his inner sanctum, I can understand his fear. While he wasn’t hauled off to the slammer, school officials wrote the incident up, calling it “Sexual Touching Against Student, Offensive,” which will be on his record permanently. I mean, like forever! As for Katherine’s mother, Margarita DeLeon, she said she was upset with the school, saying it was just children playing. The president of the National Association of Elementary School Principals, described calls to police and/or suspensions in cases like this “overkill.” Indeed! And, when Randy’s mother, Claudia, who is a preschool teacher in As an aspiring soccer player and fan, no doubt Randy often saw the coach whack players on the rear when they came off the field and associated it with a show of appreciation and good play. Of one thing we are confident: that little boy did not mean “offensive sexual touching.” He wouldn’t even know what it was. Someone says, “Hey, they have to follow the guidelines.” But as Ronald Stephens, who is executive director of the The administration at AH, THE LIBERAL MIND! Did you catch the item referring to liberals featuring Dr. Lyle Rossiter’s book, The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness? He charged: "Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded." He wrote, "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave." And why should we believe him? Because for over 35 years “he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the While the latter doesn’t especially impress us, his claim that the liberalism advocated by the top “candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder” does. He insists the liberal agenda preys on “weakness and feelings of inferiority” among the masses, making them feel victimized and wanting compensation. That sounds logical to us. Rossiter believes, "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains, and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious." In short, liberalism is a mental disorder. Or so this expert psychiatrist claims. Again, it does sound logical to us. How about you? ANOTHER OKIE HEARD FROM! Some of the milder comments she received include: "I heard what you said and you should be killed you stupid [expletive] [expletive]," "I sincerely hope you die a slow, horrible death due to breast cancer," "I sure hope and pray that you rot in hell," "I hope you get hit by a truck," and, "Christianity is the cancer in our society and should be eliminated!" What had she done? Advocated the killing of all presidential aspirants in all parties? It seems, according to Baptist Press, she said "the homosexuality is destroying this nation," correctly noting the lifespan of Sodomites "is shorter," and said it was even a bigger threat to America "than terrorism." The original YouTube report has over 10,000 comments, many of them negative (the majority, we understand). About 300 Sodomite activists held a rally against her in March at the The issue became so intense a rally was held last April at the state capitol where about 2,000 Okies gathered to support her, chanting "Sally! Sally! Sally!" She told the crowd the issue was not about her, insisting, "It's about the church having the right to speak out for the redeeming love of Jesus Christ Who died to set us all free from sin. The Lord gave me a verse I've been claiming. Philippians 1:12, 'I want you to know that what has happened to me has really served to advance the Gospel’.” In another venue, she explained her statement about the seriousness of Sodomy in We salute Representative Kern. May her breed be multiplied – and not just in “PANTS” IN Fellow Democrat Yvonne Dorsey objected, saying, “When we begin to take the freedom of speech away … I think we’re doing something that’s just not right.” Saying she didn’t like the look of baggy pants either, but wanted to defend the right of folks to wear clothes as they wish. How about, not wearing them in public at all? Where does ‘freedom of speech’ end? (This is ‘speech’?) POLYGAMY IN We don’t know about all the news venues, but Sheppard Smith on Fox News, every time he referenced the situation he would add, after naming the cult, strongly emphasizing the word, “This group has no connection with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints” (i.e., Mormons). He should have added, “But in this matter of polygamy they were just following the instructions of Joseph Smith, who did found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” That is why the Founder Joe Smith had at least 48 “documented” wives (probably more) and his successor, Brigham Young, in whose honor Brigham Young University is named, had at least 70 wives with at least 60 little children running around calling him “Daddy” (he admitted not knowing all their names, but whom he acknowledged siring). Young taught that any man who rejected polygamy would have his wife taken away from him in eternity and given to a polygamist! You’ll find what Joe Smith declared as “revelations from God,” on the subject in the Mormon Scripture, Doctrine and Covenants, claimed by Mormons to be equal or superior to the Holy Bible (they say the Bible has mistakes, their scripture doesn’t, making the latter superior). Joe even had a special revelation from God telling his legal wife Emma to accept all Joe’s new wives – and if she didn’t, God would give him even more wives! So you can hardly blame the Eldorado’s leader, Warren Jeffs (now in jail on sex charges), and the other dirty old men in the cult, for doing what Joseph Smith and Brigham Young told them they must do! On second thought, you can blame them because the Lord Jesus Christ declared plainly that “from the beginning of creation,” God’s plan was for one man and one woman to marry and become one. Never did God intend for multiple wives for any man (or divorce either, for that matter), although some men in the Old Testament sullied that intent. Incidentally, the brothers of Jeffs and another “senior elder” had the most wives, one of them over a score of them! Women with children four or younger were allowed to stay with their children, but children older were separated from their mothers. Women were given the choice of returning to the cult’s ranch or going to a “safe” environment. Some chose the latter and some went back to the ranch. Still later the courts ruled the law had gone too far – but others said if the children were reunited with their parents in the compound, the families might flee the country. After all, that’s what Mitt Romney’s grandparents did when polygamy became unlawful years ago, fleeing to Feel deep sympathy for those little girls who were so violated in the name of religion – and whose lives are now pretty much in ruin. And feel utter contempt for the wicked, sensual, lustful men who perpetrated those horrible acts. [See the editor’s Mormonism booklet, $2.50 postage paid from our SPEAKING OF MESSING WITH LITTLE GIRLS: One of Martin Luther King’s key henchmen, a top lieutenant who was with him on the Lorraine Motel balcony in that famous picture (as was Je$$e Jack$on, as The Patriot references him) taken shortly before he was shot, “Rev.” James L. Bevel, was found guilty in Leesburg (VA) of incest (committing sex with his daughter when she was 15). She testified under oath that he repeatedly molested her from age 6, but he was only tried on this one count. The victim said she was raised in a “communal environment” where she saw her father regularly having sex with women and thought her molestation was “normal.” Also testifying under oath at Bevel’s trial was an ex-wife who said he told his followers in the commune it was the parents’ obligation to “sexually orientate” their children – which she understood as having sex with them. After his arrest, prosecutors received calls from all over the country from women claiming to have been victimized by him. Bevel had at least 14 kids by several women, according to the ex-wife who was a witness in his trial, yet he was a leader in the Southern “Christian” Leadership Conference organized by King in 1957. In fact, he has been credited with being the brains for the inspiration and organization of King’s “Million Man March.” Alas, he is not the only “close associate” of King having a problem with little girls. AH, ANOTHER “MEMOIRS” COMING OUT! We had trouble reading it right, but if we did the author is Miley Cyrus. If you are like me, you said, “Who is she?” Apparently she is featured in the Disney Channel series, “Hannah Montana.” Miley is 15! Incredible, isn’t it? A 15-year-old writing her “memoirs” in advance of being old enough to drive a car! Before we judge too harshly, however, she says it will be about “how important my relationship with my family is to me.” If she handles it right, that will be good. (I guess – but 15?) Later: Poor Miley made the news again shortly after the above when sexy (racy?) photos of the child – in the style of Paris Hilton and the other heroines of today’s kids – were released by Vanity Fair, taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. One shot of the girl wrapped in a satin bedsheet, apparently sans clothing, showing her back bare to the middle of her body. In the magazine she said of the photo that it was “a beautiful shot,” “really cool,” and “really artsy.” After the uproar she lamented, “I feel so embarrassed … I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans …” Leibovitz said her shot of Miley had “been misinterpreted.” Oh? And how should it have been interpreted? One of the problems is that the popular young actress has presented herself to the public as a born-again Christian. We are not saying she isn’t, but she certainly needs someone to explain the ways of the world to her. And since her father approved of this shoot, he obviously isn’t the one to do it. IS MARRYING MEN AND DOGS NEXT? While that has been considered, it is not the main point in this incident. No, this relates to the final (sic) outcome of a situation we have been monitoring, namely, the “Rev.” (sic) Jane Spahr’s trial before the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. She had gone to its ‘supreme court’ (the Permanent Judicial Commission of the General Assembly), to maintain her right to “marry” Sodomites. So how did the San Rafael (CA) “preacher” (sic) come out with her detractors? She and they were all losers! Sister Spahr had been charged with flouting the denomination’s law defining marriage as “a civil contract between a woman and a man.” Her defense was an argument that the rule contained no “strict prohibition” against same sex wedlocks (which was not an issue when the ‘rule’ was adopted – at that time all professing Christians admitted the Bible was against it). Using the Spahr argument, a “reverend” could marry a man and his dog, of course, which is why we gave this incident the title we did. On the positive side, the ‘supremes’ ruled that a Sodomite ceremony “is not and cannot be a marriage.” Amen to that! (So why this fuss?) On the negative side, the ‘supremes’ ruled that Spahr did nothing wrong because “same-sex marriages do not exist in the church.” What a farcical cop-out! And the ruling took 11 pages to ‘decide’ it. This problem can be laid at the door of the denominational “bosses.” Four times a vote has come before the General Assembly to outlaw Sodomite unions and four times it has been voted down. Spahr, who has admittedly ‘performed’ at least 14 Sodomite ‘marriages’ in addition to “hundreds” of Sodomite ‘unions,’ is currently ‘counseling’ three couples whom she plans to ‘unite in marriage’ within the next 12 months. We are not sure how long our holy God is going to ignore such defiance to His Word. HE IS A 100-FOOT SURVIVOR! Derek Anderson is a student working on his master’s degree in pastoral studies at a Deciding to hike up an area ski mountain, they were almost to the top when Derek reached for a rock that turned loose on him and he fell 100 feet. Landing on a slant and noting that if he slid about three feet more he would drop to boulders below, he had to wait about five hours for his buddy to reach a phone and for rescue crews to reach him. His shoulders and elbows were separated and his leg bones were shattered just above the heel. Originally from While that is true of Derek, it is true of all of us even if in a less spectacular manner. Every breath we take is a gift from God. May we honor Him totally in our lives without ceasing. It is only right and proper to do so. THEY TOOK ANOTHER COUNT: Looking back, the Later a motion was made to put out the people who attempted to put out the pastor. While the vote was 663-337 in favor, it failed to meet the constitutional requirement of a two-thirds majority by a mere four votes. That's when someone learned the deacons had allowed the ones being excommunicated to vote on themselves, a clear contradiction of Roberts Rules of Order, by which the church is governed. Ipso facto, the dissidents are now history. Hopefully, the church can now get back to what it was founded to do: win souls and build them up in the faith! MILITARY SUPPRESSION OF CIVIL & RELIGIOUS RIGHTS: United States Army Chaplain Stuart Kazarovich, an independent Baptist sponsored by the Associated Gospel Churches, a fine group of fundamental, Bible-believing Christians, started a Bible class at It seems Kazarovich left on a five-week R&R and arranged for someone else to cover for him. The brigade chaplain, who said he found Fundamental Baptist teaching offensive, canceled the services and when Kazarovich returned would not let him start them up again. This brigade chaplain, unnamed to protect the guilty, was hostile to Kazarovich's ministry from the start and guilty of "harassment and intolerance," and is reputed to have said "being 'born again' has no place in the Army." The AGC, with the help of Congressman Walter Jones of By the way, 34 of the soldiers in the group signed a petition calling for resumption of the service, as did the pastors and parents of some of them. We saw the story first in WorldNetDaily. “ITS DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN,” as Yogi Berra would put it. In our last issue we told about the Now it has happened in “ Officer Burnett, who obviously hadn’t read our May-June issue, said, “This is the first time that beer has taken priority over a child.” |
