Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation.

The Wild, Wild West!

The beautiful city of Murfreesboro (TN) where we used to have our offices – and other national organizations, including the Bill Rice Ranch, still do – was the scene of an Old West shoot-out (i.e., shoot-’em-up) the other day. Guess where it happened? In the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of Walter Hill, one of several suburbs to Murfreesboro. None of the participants was a member of the church; it just seemed, at the time, like a good place to transact a drug deal. Alas, it went sour and the bullets flew!

Yes, a service was going on inside the building. And, yes again, one of the bullets hit the sanctuary. And, no, none of the worshipers was shot or injured. The two in one car, both males, were captured almost immediately (one a tender 18 and the other an even more immature 16), but the other car sped away and escaped (temporarily, that is).
