Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation. The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here. Deja Vue? Will it happen again this year? Last year, the House of Representatives passed a bill 254-172 that provides legal protect for an unborn child injured or killed in attacks of violence against the baby’s mother. It died an ignoble death because the “big” boys and girls in the Senate refused to act. Well, the House acted again this year, passing the “Unborn Victims of Violence Act” by a 252-172 margin. Hopefully, since this is not an election year, the Senate will do something to make the bill law. (The same thing is already legal in about 50% of our States, so this is not really something from out in left field.) Why is the Senate so afraid of it? Why are the pro-killer crowds so intensely adamant in opposing any such action? Because it recognizes what intelligent people have said all along: that baby in the womb with an active brain, a beating heart, and developing body is already a person –exactly as the Word of God teaches. If this becomes recognized as the law of the land, obviously abortionists are killing human beings. I know that. You know that. Every honest scientist knows that. Probably, at least subconsciously, every pro-choicer believes that. But, somehow, to admit it in writing and endorsing it by law scares the bejabbers out of the killing fields. Will the Senate act? Who knows? We don’t. Should it? Of course it should. It is a simple matter of morality. Alas, all of us know that morals are in very short supply among our Washington politicians these days! Oh, yes. After the House victory, the executive director of the National Abortion Federation, Vicki Saporta, was figuratively sobbing, “This bill threatens to set the stage for overturning Roe v. Wade.” Unborn babies in America should be so fortunate! (What a pity, we don’t see it on the horizon in our crystal ball!) |
