Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation. The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here. Pastor in Iowa “Greetings in the name of our wonderful Savior and Lord. I want to express my appreciation for your excellent magazine. I receive numerous Christian magazines, but look forward to the arrival of none of them with greater anticipation than The Biblical Evangelist. Your publication is always warmly welcomed, read, and later returned to for spiritual blessings. “There are numerous reasons that I am thankful for The Biblical Evangelist. To begin with, I enjoy the sermons and articles that present biblical truth and approach God’s Word from a Fundamentalist position. With so many printing houses and organizations watering down the message of the Bible, it is refreshing to find a national paper still standing for the fundamentals of the Faith. “Second, I greatly enjoy reading the book reviews contained in each issue. Many of the books and authors I am familiar with and I agree with your comments. Other books reviewed I have never seen and appreciate your comments. These reviews help me, as a pastor and Bible student, to avoid books I otherwise might have wasted money on and to search for works I might never have heard of. Not many magazines contain so many book reviews, and I pray you will continue to publish these reviews in each issue. “Third, I greatly look forward to reading your personal editorial each month. You do an excellent job keeping your readers informed with current events that pertain to their Christian lives. I especially want to praise the manner in which you handle controversial issues. I greatly appreciate your courage and your fairness in dealing with individuals and groups. For example, your comments under ‘Havoc In the Heartland’ was objectively written and to the point. I have seen another national paper cover the same events and was very disappointed with their personal bias. Please continue your fair, professional journalism. “Fourth, I look forward to the normal features contained in The Biblical Evangelist such as your ‘Incidents and Illustrations,’ Dr. Wemp’s ‘Gone Fishing,’ and Kenneth Ham’s ‘Answers in Genesis.’ These and others are always a blessing. “Finally, I appreciate your paper so very much because of the spirit in which it is always presented. You cover areas that need to be addressed fairly and with Christian love. You present biblical messages that help believers grow and challenge their daily living, and you always do so with the attitude of brotherly interest and concern. Thank you for your fine magazine and please keep up the excellent work. May our Lord richly bless and encourage you.” |
