Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation.

The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here.

Letters We Love
Evangelist Robert L. Sumner

Here is a good letter from a brother in Iowa:

“Let me start by thanking you and your staff for the excellence of The Biblical Evangelist. I look forward to receiving each issue. I count it a pleasure that I met you back in the late 70s when you preached at Calvary Baptist Church of Beardstown (IL) under Pastor Howard Stevens. I had just surrendered to the ministry a couple of years before and greatly enjoyed having you with us. Since then I have pastored in Illinois and Iowa.

“Thank you again for your time and all you do.”

From friends in Indiana, addressed to both the editor and his wife, the kind of letter we enjoy receiving:

“Just a note to let you know I prayed for you two today, and for the Lord's leading and provisions for The Biblical Evangelist. I take your paper and am always blessed by the articles.

“My wife and I pray our Lord gives you a special measure of encouragement and perseverance as you hold out His hope and Word to those who are also desperately in need of encouragement and sound teaching.

What you do matters. I thank God for you and your ministry.”

Wasn’t that a nice letter? I thought so.

One of evangelical’s finest scholars, a professor in a major university, wrote us recently about The Biblical Evangelist: “I read it from front to back as soon as it arrives. Your work is always scholarly, professional, and very practical. I have recommended The Biblical Evangelist to seminary students for many years …

“May the Lord bless you richly, Brother Sumner. You are a great inspiration to more folks than you realize.”

He was certainly gracious, wasn’t he?

Have you written lately? We’d love to hear from you.
